Coaches have gotten fired trying to recruit just McDonald’s All-Americans.Because Juan Dixon, Lonny Baxter, Steve Blake and Chris Wilcox weren’t McDonald’s All-Americans, that doesn’t mean they weren’t good high school players. Anyone can sit here and pick the top 25 high school players in the country — I don’t think so. There’s too many good players out there.Williams has never been concerned with recruiting names and usually shies away from going after players who become overhyped. His recent experiences with highly rated recruiting classes, that included two McDonalds all stars, have I think only further reinforced his opinion.On his new assistants:Rob Moxley was ranked in the top five as one of the best recruiting young coaches. So you can guess, including with my growing age, I managed to become quite slim by the time I hit my teens.The time I discovered the joy of cooking and that I had it in me is quite an accident. That time my mum was working over time for two weeks, and so I would be waiting for her for dinner every night. Those were the time of our catering days, and I pitied my mum for working late, so I thought of the idea of coming home to hot and yummy food would be a comfort to her. So nearing the time of her return I would fire up the rarely-touched stove and heat up the catered food. That time I ate out most of the time, living in a food haven (Wangsa Maju) and inevitably put on quite some weight, since when weight is a matter? At that time I did some cooking, not really serious but some dinners once a while and have dreaming of grander feasts all the time. When we finally moved to PJ, Y and I, we have been living with each other since we ever live in KL, finally got the kitchen to ourselves, mini it is but I can start stocking up on my utensils and all.Finally, after few years of cooking here and there, some hard-rock muffins and burn pots, I finally went full blast in cooking after I discovered food-blogosphere, which had been a real source of encouragement. Thank you all, wherever you are, you had changed a life of a girl.Now, I have shifted to a new home, with a larger kitchen, but lesser time to cook as I had just graduated and started my full time job.

We are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Harvey’s Wallbangers this year, but lost in the shadow of the 1982 team is the 20th anniversary of Team Streak. That’s not good for baseball players and their teams, because those things have a way of piling up in long stretch of losing.I’m not saying all is lost, and I’m not saying this little skid is the end of the world. Last night the Pistons put the Toddler Bulls out of their misery in what was awkwardly the only the game of the night. People, the Pistons have been to the Eastern Conference Finals the last 5 years…they know what they are doing. That team went to the Finals three of those times and got two titles out of the deal. It is strange but the two most consistent teams in the NBA are about to be in the Finals. They are the two teams that have been consistently dangerous going back to when I was in high school. He has gone from the ‘next Magic’ to a guy who cruised through the regular season and now a guy who cruises through playoff games. MJ has passed to Paxson, BJ Armstrong and Steve Kerr but a) they were deadly shooters and b) they knew it was coming and knew if they missed it he would murder them the next day. They have to make some moves, if they come back with the same team they are destined to fall in the first round. But the team from the Windy City got out of the first round and finally made a little noise for the first time since MJ left. The stupidity of Mike Brown…the guy refused to double team Washington’s only scorer (Antawn Jamison) and then refused to give his guys a sense of urgency in Game 5. Ya know because his team is really experienced and knows the importance of closing out a team at home and how the closeout game is the most difficult. He must have known that is team is really good at giving effort all the time and would never think to themselves that they are up 3-1 and it will be easy to win at home.

This was fortunate because I felt like making some emotional remarks about missing my wonderful Jeff. The mannish nurse of course knew all about my torrid romance. I am sure that her looks are a great detriment in her search for a friend.After that, I drove around town and indulged in dreamy fantasies of my darling Jeff. It was probably too late for those boys anyway–they were already holding hands and skipping gleefully down the sidewalk.It was a rude shock when I got out of my car and found Aldo Kelrast waiting for me in the parking lot of the tony Charterstone Condominium Complex. How did Aldo know of my secret longing for him? Did he know of my wild fantasies of tangled limbs and sweaty sheets? But, to my surprise, he said that he prefers the chase most of all–that it is the best part of a relationship!Well, I must admit that took the pleasure out of most of my fantasies about Mr. Kelrast right then and there. Everyone knows that a respectable widow cannot have more than one male companion after her husband’s demise without running the risk of tarnishing her sterling reputation–and that of her late husband as well!Aldo told me he could see I was afraid. I longed to tear off my surgical green jacket, throw myself into his arms, and make a lubricious display right there in the courtyard!To be continued.

Up until a few years ago i was primarily a collector of Star Wars action figures, i have been collecting off and on for over 10 years, mainly the small figures from all of the movies; Among other celebrated artist and creators who collect these trinkets of fancy are Ward Kimball, Frank and Ollie, Bruce Tim, and finally John Lasseter, who has his entire office dedicated to toys at Pixar.I often wondered what makes people buy things like trains, model air planes, and toy soldiers, I think I narrowed it down to this, as artist we tend to see the world with eyes of imagination, we think and see the world differently from the average person.

for both of these first 2 i left my apartment an hour before class (it’s only a 10 min drive) and there hasnt been any parking anywhere. the professor has some weird quirks (rejecting clinic applicants via mass email, calling on people by describing their clothing), but overall seems like she’s pretty nice and laid back.ok, time for my first experience in distance learning. the professor was pissed cuz he couldnt see the entire class (and i hate to tell him, i dont know how they’ll work that one out).

RING IN THE NEW YEAR WITH GOGOL BORDELLOAs I keep saying, Becky and I are spending three nights in the French Quarter, so I’m leaving Real Art alone until I get back. Consequently, I won’t be able to wish you a happy New Year on the 31st. So I’ll do it now: happy New Year!!!! This is also an opportunity to push my latest musicial favorite oddity, New York hipster band Gogol Bordello.Discovering them was very weird. I was flipping channels around late one night a few weeks ago when I happened on a very odd band performing on Conan O’Brien. I’m so jaded these days: ordinarily, I would have flipped right on by, but I lingered for a few seconds because I wasn’t able to immediately categorize what these guys were doing. The longer I watched the more they sucked me in. For the first couple of moments, due to gratuitous use of accordion, a two-beat feel, and the lead singer’s big huge mustache, I figured they were some sort of Tejano/hip-hop fusion. But that didn’t pan out. They just didn’t look like Latinos–the old hippy dude playing the fiddle completely blew the curve. And the wild Iggy Pop-like gyrations of the front man clearly had no African-American or Hispanic precedent. What the hell is this? I thought. Then they got weirder. The singing became more frenetic, the singer more frenzied. Fun, I thought, but still wasn’t sold. That’s when two women, who appeared to be dressed in something of a cross between Lotte Lenya and Victoria’s Secret, no really, came out playing a big bass marching drum and hand-held cymbals to flank the singer. I was totally blown away. It was over the top nuts.Anyway, I looked them up on the Internet machine, my computer, and found that their performance was no fluke. Here, check out some of this interview with their Ukranian-born lead singer, Eugene Hutz:Irony poisoned almost the whole world, and it’s only going to keep spreading. That’s why a wave of authenticity is going to definitely arise against it. Because you can’t really experience life; you can’t really live in an ironic way. I mean, what the fuck is this guy Beck doing? I can’t even watch him on stage. It’s ridiculous. I don’t understand. What is this kind of, Yeah, Im into it but not really. Im just kind of checking it out. Im kind of break dancing, but not really because I am too cool to really break dance.” What the fuck are these people breeding? The whole aesthetic premise of irony is just rotten to the core. When I got to New York and I went to concerts, I realized nobody really fucking dances because they are too cool. But really they just dont know how to feel because the people on stage dont fucking know how to feel. When I first read that excerpt above, I was blown away: hes absolutely right; irony, as an aesthetic concept, is a sort of spiritual death. Fuck it, and all that post-modern bullshit used to justify it. I think that maybe an ironic stage was necessary in the 90s once everybody had fully figured out that bigtime music, bigtime anything, is full of shit, but, okay, weve done that. Whats next? Gogol Bordello is drunkenly leading the way toward the next zeitgeist. -ne DAWGS DEFENSE and THE OPENING DRIVE: TIME FOR A STOP!The Georgia defense has played admirably this season considering the holes that needed to be filled after the departures of Thomas Davis, David Pollack and Odell Thurman, as well as Coach Brian Van Gorder. In fact, the Dawgs have allowed a total of 34 points in the first quarter in 11 games - 31 of those came in the past four games. And more importantly, what do we do differently to stop LSU early, and hopefully often?Without the benefit of meticulous film study of the Georgia games, but having seen them all twice, I believe that our defense has been predictable, strictly following tendencies in the first part of the games and teams have been able to scheme for this successfully.
